Review of News Director
Working at this station was AWFUL. And I was what my other coworkers called a “favorite” of the ND, Cathie. This station was so poorly managed and looking back I wish I considered other stations to work for instead. The news director has favorites and uses FEAR, threats and scare tactics to bully employees. She has developed a bad rep and can only hire college kids, and constantly hold it above their heads. Verbally abusive, she will not have an adult conversation, but screams at employees behind closed doors. It’s her way or the highway. Broken promises, she’ll get you to sign a contract and once you sign her true colors show. She won’t let you take vacation time you are entitled to. She was awful, no one besides the 3 main anchors stay, everyone is desperate looking for other jobs/considering leaving the industry. The lack of any new hires resigning says enough. Besides the terrible management from the ND, the station itself is falling apart. There has been 15+ employees laid off in less than 2 years, main anchors have broken contracts to leave, they can’t hire anyone else, the single sports reporter is doing weather, it’s just a mess. Please save yourself and look at other options.

Most toxic place I’ve ever worked. Everyone who works there besides the main 3 anchors are trying so hard to leave. I can’t leave soon enough. I’ve seen people so passionate about journalism lose their spark because of the management here.

Review of News Director
Of all the news stations I’ve worked for, he is by far the worst news director I have ever worked under. I could write an entire book. If you’re on his good side, you’re good. Otherwise, good luck! He gossips about everyone behind their backs. I could go on and on.

An Overall Toxic Work Environment
Absolutely horrible place to work for. The news director & GM will literally scream at people out in the open. They have favorites, and they treat the ones they don’t care for like trash. They love to switch people’s schedules randomly, including MAIN ANCHORS. I have never worked for more manipulative management in my entire life. They literally will lie to your face. Not to mention the ND will pull you into his office to bad mouth all of your coworkers. Save your mental health and stay far away from this place.

Coworkers are great people. It’s just sad that management has driven essentially almost of the good ones out. If it weren’t for the ND & news director, it would actually be a great place to work at.
Review of News Director
She is not a nice person. She hides in her office all day and leaves half an hour early. Extremely difficult to get a hold of and will act as if you are inconveniencing her for having meetings with her that she requested. Does not care about employee mental health or wellbeing. Allows anchors and producers to terrorize the entire newsroom on a daily basis. Allows multiple employees to call off due to hangovers and pits employees against each other.

Sexual Harassment, An Overall Toxic Work Environment
The producers there, particularly the senior producer who trained me, are the nastiest, most demeaning and emotionally unstable people I have ever met in my life. Within a month I had been screamed at, berated, and insulted to the point of tears several times. So many there are gossipy, incompetent and inexperienced. I was very put off by the amount of extremely young, childish, and arrogant people taking up space in a Top 20 market. I felt second hand embarrassment watching people make amateurish mistakes while talking down to others who didn't start in that market (because they worked their way up.) Most employees there are too preoccupied with drinking and attentiom seeking to do their jobs. The two lead anchors are the meanest, most miserable people I have ever met, and ive met many unpleasant people. If you want to be torn apart and insulted by inexperienced, wannabe-manager producers while actual management hides and cowers and have coworkers with no experience who act like teenagers, then Fox40 is the place for you!

Lowest rated station in the market. Top 20 market that hires HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES since no journalist with common sense would set foot inside.
